Running 328km for Myanmar – Steps of Hope
Hi everyone,
This Easter, while many of us gather to enjoy food, family, and celebration, I’m reminded that for others around the world, life looks very different right now.
On 28 March 2025, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar, causing heartbreaking loss and destruction. In response, I’ve joined a team to run 328 km in total on 19 April to raise funds for the Red Cross, who are providing vital aid to those affected.
On the day of the event, we’ll begin our run at the University of Queensland (UQ) and follow the beautiful Brisbane River all the way to South Bank. It’s not just about the distance — it’s about each step representing support, hope, and solidarity for those suffering in the aftermath of the earthquake.
This cause means a lot to me — because I believe that even the smallest act of kindness can ripple outward. Every cent you donate can help provide shelter, food, medical care, and hope to people who’ve lost so much.
Easter is more than just chocolate and celebration — it’s a time to reflect, give, and show compassion. If you can, please support our run. Your contribution, no matter how small, truly makes a difference.
With gratitude,
Kris

My Updates

Pacing, Tracking, and Teamwork
Thursday 10th AprEveryone will be running at their own pace, but I’ll be running at around 6.5–7 min/km to support anyone at the back. After finishing, participants are encouraged to rename their run on apps like Strava, Garmin, or Nike Run Club to “Run For Myanmar” and share a screenshot in our group — or simply take a photo of their watch as a record. This will help us compile the final distances and stories to share.

The Event: 19 April 2025
Thursday 10th AprOur charity run will take place on Saturday, 19 April 2025. We’ll gather at 6:15 AM at the UQ St Lucia Ferry Terminal, where we’ll hand out race bibs, share a short briefing, and take a group photo. At 6:30 AM, we’ll begin the run, following a scenic route along the Brisbane River. The start and finish point will be the same, making it a beautiful loop of purpose and unity.
There’s no time limit, no pressure — just the shared goal of finishing our distances, raising awareness, and showing the world what a caring community can do. Free parking will be available around the UQ area for those joining in person.

The Mission: 328 KM for Myanmar
Thursday 10th AprTo honour the lives affected and raise vital funds for emergency relief, I initially planned a symbolic team run: 10 runners, each covering 32.8 km, representing the date of the earthquake (03/28). The goal wasn’t just about distance — it was about standing in solidarity with those who are suffering, and using our steps to send a message of support, strength, and hope.
However, when it became clear that 10 runners wouldn’t be enough, I extended the invitation to more friends, family, and fellow runners — regardless of whether they could run 5 km, 10 km, or more. The response was humbling. People from all walks of life, including overseas friends, stepped up to help us reach our goal of 328 km together.
