Can I have a link to my fundraiser through Instagram?
Unfortunately not at the moment. You can post the Facebook Link on your Instagram and it will redirect back to Facebook.
Is there somewhere else I can send people to donate if they’re not on FB?
You can create a fundraiser through our Act for Humanity page, and list your act as a Walk 100km with your Dog in May challenge: https://act.redcross.org.au/
Can I link the money I make there with my FB fundraiser?
Unfortunately not, Facebook does not yet have this capability (but hopefully one day in the future).
What do I do when someone gives me cash? And how can donors get a receipt?
Please reach out to kmitchell@redcross.org.au for deposit details.
If you have supporters who do not use Facebook you can also set up a fundraiser here. All donations will receive an email with their receipt.
Alternatively you can ask them to donate directly to Red Cross here.
This way donors will get a receipt emailed to them immediately.
I have a little pooch - do you have a different sized bandana?
Sorry, there is only one size of bandana. It's long enough to wrap around a larger pooch's neck. If you've got a little pooch, you can fold the bandana to the size of a headband, then tie it with a knot or a bow. Versatile!
I have more than one furry friend. Can you send me another bandana?
Sorry, we'd love to accommodate more than one pooch, but to ensure that everyone who signs up receives a sweet bandana in their kit, we've limited it to one per registrant.
What do I tell people about where the money goes?
The funds raised support the everyday work of Red Cross. Your donation will help people and their communities prepare for a crisis, enable emergency response teams to support those affected by conflict and crises and help people facing difficult circumstances connect with their community and get the essentials they need to survive.
How are donations made on Facebook distributed to Australian Red Cross?
Donations made to Facebook for Australian Red Cross are recieved through PayPal Giving Fund Australia. The processing fees are covered by Facebook, however third parties may still charge fees for their services.

Is there a Strava group and/or any Fitness apps recommended?
Yes! You can use your Strava account to sign up to our group here: https://www.strava.com/clubs/1127849 It’s a great way to track your kms, and you can share your challenge updates to your supporters. Mapmyrun is also a great Fitness app to track your walking challenge with poochie, though we don't have a group there.
Tip for using Strava to map your walk throughout the challenge
Please be cautious of protecting your privacy by not showing your street address (start and end point of your walk) if you are planning to share a screenshot of your route in the Facebook group.
Can I walk more than 100km in May? (I have a big pooch) Can I walk less than 100km in May? (I have a pooch with little legs)
Of course! We know that some doggies are bigger and more energetic, so feel free to personally increase your target. Likewise, some pooches are smaller, or their age might make 100km a bit too much of a stretch. Feel free to modify the distance to suit, to ensure this is a healthy, achievable and fun activity for you both.
